Pros:  Evidence Smart is the leading product for file cleaning selection options. Evidence Smart’s “wild card” selection of text as criteria for file selection was a distinct differentiator versus the other two products. This provides you with more control of the file selection process for cleaning.

Cons:  Evidence Smart is the highest priced of the three products at $39.95, but its performance and extra features did not provide the value to justify the higher price.

Using Evidence Smart:

Evidence Smart is an easy to use product cleaning and erasing your computer activity’s history and protecting your privacy.

Starting Evidence Smart presents you with the following screen with the “Scan” area active for making selections. To proceed, you pick the categories or sub-categories to scan and click the “Scan Now” button.

After the scan is complete you are automatically presented the “Results” area. In this area, you select or deselect categories, sub-categories or specific files to include in the erasing process. This provides excellent control to protect important files that you would like to keep from being erased by mistake. Click the “Clean” button after your selections are complete to start the erasing process.

Before the erasing process starts, you are presented with a dialog box to select the shredding level for the erasing process. The levels are Quick (1 pass), Safe (3 passes) and Thorough (7 passes) for the number of times to overwrite the erased files. The more passes you select, the more complete your computer files will be deleted increasing your privacy and security.

After the cleaning and erasing process is completed you are advised with the “Clean evidence complete” dialog box. You are now done.

Bottom Line:

We give Evidence Smart a 4 star rating and number three ranking in our reviewed products. However, it is a very close number three ranking to our number two product, Winclear, with scores of 79% and 84% respectively. Evidence Smart is an easy to use, fully functional and excellent performing software product to scan, clean and erase your computer activity history and protect your privacy.
